Cadet Captain Seth Evans Receives Falcon Scholarship
Elliott County High School senior Seth Evans has received a Falcon Foundation Scholarship to a military prep school of his choice to prepare for entrance to the United States Air Force Academy. The prestigious Falcon Scholarship has provided Seth a choice among five military prep schools throughout the nation.
Seth has chosen the Northwestern Preparatory School in Southern California. This school has been recommended as the best of the preparatory schools and focuses on preparing students for entrance into our military academies.
Northwestern has an exemplary record in that they have had 299 out of 300 Falcon Scholars accepted into the Air Force Academy in the past 10 years. You can find more information about Northwestern Preparatory School on the Internet at http://www.northwesternprep.com/.
Funds for the scholarship are supplied by the Falcon Foundation, which makes annual cash grants for scholarships to several schools in various parts of the nation. The Falcon Foundation is a private, non-profit foundation that provides scholarships to private preparatory schools for motivated young people seeking admission to the U.S. Air Force Academy and a career in the Air Force. Looking for a limited number of highly motivated young people, the Falcon Foundation works closely with the U.S. Air Force Academy to provide the opportunity to prepare for admission to the Academy.
Each candidate competes on the following qualifications:
a. Motivation to enter and graduate from the Air Force Academy and thereafter to follow a career as an officer of the Air Force.
b. Scholastic achievements.
c. Qualities of maturity, truthfulness, courage, kindliness, unselfishness, fellowship and devotion to duty.
d. Exhibition of moral force of character and leadership instincts, and an interest in others.
e. Physical vigor as shown by a fondness for, and participation and success in sports.
Seth Evans, who is a cadet captain and commander for the Civil Air Patrol Eagle Composite Squadron in Morehead, Kentucky and a private pilot hopes continue his aviation goal of becoming an officer and pilot in the United States Air Force.
